is the founder of Golden confection, a company launched in 2018 at Saint-Laurent, Montreal. Their main product, Persian nougat, also called “Gaz” in Farsi is originated from Isfahan. “Gaz,” an Iranian candy that is unique and is made from pure and natural ingredients.
He says:” I am very proud to be one of the first companies which produces traditional Persian nougat with Canadian integration in North America. I got to Montreal and started missing Iranian pastries. I had the memory of “Gaz” from my childhood. “Gaz” has a unique texture as traditional snacks.”

He says:
I believe that Iranian pastry comes with a rich culture. Gaz is one of the Iranian pastries used in the Nowruz (Iranian new year).” During the holiday, gaz is served as a traditional pastry to their guests.
is one of the most important holidays for Iranians. During the Nowruz holiday, family and friends visit each other’s homes. Gaz, as a traditional Iranian pastry, has a special role in the Nowruz. Many people put them in beautiful and fancy packaging and give each other as a gift. Since “gaz” transports easily, it is one of the favorite Iranian souvenirs. Gas finds in different colors. Moreover, it can be white, or it can become yellow because of spices like saffron. The most common type of “gaz” make with pistachio, various roasted nuts, almonds, and walnuts.
This product usually was export to other countries. However, due to recent sanctions, nougat production had a drastic impact due to the export. For this reason, sanctions have prevented Iranians from exporting this product internationally. Therefore, Ali Meghdadi decides to invest and lunch an Iranian nougat factory in Canada.

I’ve been inspired by maple syrup and cranberry to add another layer of flavor and help to bring out particular tastes for the new product. I always try to get the best ingredients that I can because that’s what it is all about the quality of the product.
“Awareness of excellent quality nougat has encouraged us to develop new products. We’ve used our awards to help communicate our message about nougat and help people enjoy products, so we are always looking at how we can be better. For this reason, it would be nice one day to have a nougat with a cup of tea or coffee, in the vicinity of every cafe shop and restaurant.”
